Q & A
What is the Orff Schulwerk method of music education?
Orff Schulwerk, also known as the Orff Approach, is a music education philosophy developed by German composer Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman in the 1920s. The term "Schulwerk" is German for "schoolwork".
Orff Schulwerk combines music, movement, drama, and speech into lessons that are similar to a child's world of play. The approach uses a mixture of improvisation and music education pedagogy. Teachers invite their classes to sing, play instruments, and dance as a means for inspiring and educating students.
What are ABRSM and CM and why do we choose them?
ABRSM is a globally recognized music examination system covering a wide range of instruments such as piano, violin, cello, clarinet, and flute.
The CM certificate, also known as Certificate of Merit is one of the most popular music education systems in the U.S., known for its gradual progression and focus on practice.
We believe that music education not only develops children's musical literacy, but also promotes their overall development. We are committed to providing a happy and comfortable learning environment for children so that they can explore and play freely in the world of music.
Does my child need to attend "group classes" or "individual piano classes", which is better?
Group Classes It is most suitable for children who are newcomers. At the age of 3~6 years old, it is not easy for children to be quiet and focus on the class, but through the learning of OGM Rhythm Classes, children can not only learn the necessary knowledge of music. The development of a sense of sound, musicality, and rhythm will lay the best foundation for children to learn any music program in the future. Group classes emphasize on the foundation work, so that children like music, immersed in the music environment. After the initial training
Individual Classes: Teachers will customize the lessons according to each student condition and progress, which is tailored to the individual's learning progress. Individual classes focus on piano playing skills, from fingers, wrists, arms and even the use of the entire body, emphasizing musical skills and cognition.
Learning time: Longer concentration is required, and practicing piano skills requires mature development of finger muscles. Therefore, Elementary School and above are more suitable for Individual Piano Classes (there is no limit on the maximum age, no matter if you are in middle school, high school, or even an adult or silver-haired person, you can also take Individual Piano Classes!)
Group Classes: Small group classes are an advanced course after the Rhythmic Class. This program not only helps your child to explore an interest in piano learning but also makes him/her more aware of whether or not he/she wants to learn to play the piano.
